Winner of the International Never Such Innocence - Poetry & Art Competition
Congratulations to Ivy!
Ivy is the biggest winner of this years' art competition. Her art work won all the first places of Canada Royal Legion Branch, Area, District and Province. Finally, she won the national second place.
The Dominion Office of Canada Royal Legion sent the art works of all the national winners to compete in the "Never Such Innocence - Poetry & ART Competition", which is an international event. Among 1800 competitors, 30 winners were selected. 6 winners are from Canada and Ivy is one of them. Ivy won the second place in this competition.
So far, Ivy and her family have been invited to attend the award ceremony in England at the end of May, 2017. We wish Ivy and her family a wonderful trip to England!
Award Ceremony at Calgary Branch #1, Royal Canada Legion
There was an Award Ceremony at 1:00pm on May at Calgary Branch #1. Three Students, who won the the national second place were issued the certificates of winning of the Province and Prize of Checks. They are Strong Duan, Ivy Shi and Annie Chen. The certificate of national winning will be issued late in the students schools.

Congratulations to Strong Duan!
We just got the news from Skills Canada live TV show that Strong won the Golden Medal of 2D Animation Competition. This is another big win after wining the national second place in the Royal Canada Legion Poster and Literary contest.

Canada Royal Legion Poster Contest and Strong Art School

We didn't take part in the contest in 2015. Every body needs a break😇
Several students were trying to join the contest last year. As you can see from my previous post, the achievements of our students are amazing! Five students won the provincial first place in eight categories. three of them won national second place and one of them won national honorable mention (third place).
The Legion encourages schools to have their students take part in the longstanding tradition of the annual Poster and Literary Contests. Canadian school children participate by submitting art and poetry that convey their own unique ideas of Remembrance. Every year, the participants are around 100,000. If your children are interested in this contest, you are welcome to our school to talk to Ms. Tang. The artist will teach you the skill from basic to advance to represent your creative ideas on paper. You might be the next winner in this poster contest.

There are seven students took part in the contest from our school this year. So far, we know all of them are winners at different levels from legion branch, area, district, to provincial and national. Especially, five of them are provincial first place. There are total 8 first places at provincial level in eight categories. More surprisingly, three students won the second place and one student won the honorable mention (third place) at national level in eight categories. The attached table shows all the winners of this year. The names with yellow highlight are provincial first place winners from Strong Art School. The names with red underline are national second place and third place winners.
